To tell you the truth, I really hate Chomsky! As I have mentioned before, language to me is created by human for the purpose of communication, whereas Chomsky tried to find some initial rules in human's mind. To some extent, he succeeded due to his Deep Structure Theory. However, I'm still not sure whether there's some universal rule in human's languages. If there's any, could we say that it's basically the Universal Law in the human society?
On the other hand, I believe Chomsky's theory did contribute a lot to the development of linguistics, just perhaps not on human languages.
